Helpful Hints For Cleaning Salvaged Clothing

  1. Vinegar will remove most water stains, if you add 1/4 cup of vinegar to your rinse water. Vinegar will also take out the smell of smoke in clothing.

  2. Lemon juice will remove mildew stains from white clothing, if you apply it to the stain and lay it out in the sun.

  3. Dirty clothes can be soaked overnight in "Simple Green", and then washed on regular cycle. You can also use Dawn dishwashing liquid, Cascade, Pine Oil, or Wisk detergent for this same purpose.

  4. A degreaser will take out smut and grime.
